What's the Most Beautiful Place on Earth?

Every summer I begin to fantasize about where on earth I would go if I had the means to go there. The seductive lure of travel grows a bit stronger the older I get. But I'm curious to know where other people would go if given the chance. What do you think is the most beautiful place on earth? Leave a comment! I'm taking notes.

When I win the lottery, I am heading back to Australia and the Great Barrier Reef. The SCUBA diving and snorkelling there are the best. And since I will have tons of money, I can stay on a houseboat over the reef with my family and friends in relative solitude. Imagine waking up on the vast ocean and then slipping into the water to see the amazing creatures below.

Now I have to go buy more lottery tickets.

Wow, does that sound appealing, Liz! I don't swim very well, but maybe I could get one of those little glass chambers like Jacques Cousteau had. :)

I think I'll buy a lottery ticket, too.

I once have been lucky to go to kauai, a Hawaiian island. It was so beautiful. Tropical green woods, many colorfull flowers, banana trees, white beaches. Just paradise. Hope to come bak there when I retire!!

That does sound exotic! I've never been to Hawaii--but Amsterdam and the Netherlands sound exotic to me, too! :)

Costa Rica has got to be one of the prettiest places I've ever been. I highly recommend it. Clean air, miles (kilometers *g) of countryside, volcanos, monkeys, toucans, hills, mountains, flowers of all colors and sizes... not to be missed!

One of my friends spent a year in Costa Rica, and she came back not only in love with the country, but incredibly muscular from walking daily up and down the mountains.

To me the most beautiflu place on earth is any place I can be with the people I love the most, whether its my hometown in Michigan or Venice or the slums. If I had to say i'm partial to one place though, it would simply be my grandmothers farm in Fremont Michigan where I spent 2 years of my young life. The hayfields and corn fields where I used to play, the woods where I used to get lost, the big red barn (however run down it was), and the house where we would have huge Christmas dinners with family. Not to mention the place I saw my mother marry the man she loves. That is the most beautiful place i've visited, i think.

That's lovely, BJ, and a testament to the way place and memory are linked for us. I love Michigan, too.
