The Very Best To You

Back in high school I learned a Christmas song that pretty much sums up everything one could say as a seasonal wish:

Have a very happy holiday
May your home be filled with happiness;
May your Christmas be a jolly day
For every one you love and bless--
May your troubles all be tiny ones,
And your faults be not worth mentioning--
May your new year be the very best it possibly could be!

Merry Christmas to all!

I don't have a pretty little ditty, but I put all my best wishes into hoping you and yours have a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year. Merry Christmas, Julia! :)

Thanks, Ria! Merry Christmas to you, too!

the rest of it is:
Oh, hear those sleigh bells as they come around the corner telling all of us that Christmastime is not so far away.

can't you hear those sleigh bells as they come around the corner telling all of us that Christmas time is just a few more days!

The whole song, together is actually a descant for Jingle Bells. Your part goes with "Dashing through the snow. . ." And the part I left goes with Jingle Bells! It's really a fun song to sing if you have some little bells to jingle!!

Does anyone know who composed this little ditty? I swear this song is engraved in my brain for LIFE! I would love to sing it and give credit where it's due

I've been looking for the lyrics of this song as well. Help, anyone?

I actually learned this song in 6th grade when I was in a choir group. I was one of the ones who sung this version instead of jingle bells (there were two groups, one sung jingle bells and the other sang this while jingle bells was being sung) and I haven't sung this since then. (Its been like ten years) I was staring at the words and decided to try to sing them. I wad surprised to discoverer I still knew the tune even though it had been many many years since I had heard it.

We sang this as a round with jingle bells when I was in high school

We sang this song with Jingle Bells as Bonnie said above.
Loved it. We sang this in choir when I was in junior high in 1975.

Does anyone know who owns the publishing rights to this?

Though, I don’t have a holiday on christmas, I will still make sure I enjoy Christmas to the fullest. Lol, I and all my buddies who provide Homework Help Services work on Christmas – such is the work load on us. But we don’t allow our work to make our Christmas any less fun than it should be. Anyway, merry chsitmas to all!

Oh my goodness! I've been looking for the rest of these lyrics since I was a kid! I used to sing this in grade school back in the 70s but I had forgotten a couple of lines here and there! I'm starting my Holiday career as a Black Santa Claus this coming Christmas and I wanted to teach this at my home visits and SantaZooms, but I couldn't remember all of the lyrics! I'm so glad I stumbled across this thread! A 15-year old thread and it's still helping people! Thanks so much!
