Check Me Out

I have a new website that is not entirely completed, but I'd love to get some feedback. It actually has nothing to do with the visual here, but I just hate to post without a picture; I'm a visual learner. :)

Check out the site at www.juliabuckley.com

Happy Tuesday!

Julia, I checked out your website in progress and I like it!! Nothing is more frustrating than having to hunt about to find out what you want. Your "buttons" are quickly visible and clearly delineated, making it easy to navigate around the site. You would think that would be a no-brainer, but evidently it's not, considering some sites I've tried.

Three suggestions, which may be things that you plan to do anyway; I realize that it's not finished. First, I'm looking forward to starting your Madeleine Mann series and plan to do it, but a "premise" on that page such as is on The Dark Backward's page would probably be helpful to spark interest.

Second, for both books, but especially MM, since it is a series, you know there will be things that your readers will be curious about. Is the location real? Is there an interesting story behind the trigger for your inspiration? What about funny instances at your booksignings? You know, the types of things that you enjoy reading about and that you might post on DL or write about here. I don't know the best way to present these anecdotes and am sure your imagination is more than equal to the challenge, but I always feel I've been given a little lagniappe when I see these 'extras' on a webpage.

Third, I LOVE photos and am so glad that you have a photo page. Please keep adding to it.

Finally, update it often. I know that's a pain and sometimes there's not much to update, but a letter to the readers once a month or somesuch, gives people a reason to come back and the more they come back, the more they're thinking about you and your books, etc., etc., etc.

BTW, I love your blog. You manage to make me think, make me laugh, or give me a peaceful and serene feeling. Hmmm, maybe your blog should be a prescription for stress relief!
