The Harry Potter Game

Part of the genius of JK Rowling is her creation of an imaginary world, and her selection of interesting names.

The boys and I thought it would be fun to make up our own Harry Potter-sounding names. Assuming Ms. Rowling were to ever write a book eight, she could select from some of these, which sound authentic to my ears. You be the judge.

Here are the ones we came up with:

JUSTINIUS TRENCH

INCONTINENTIA VERBATIM

ALGAMORE TANGJAW

FIGARO HIGGLEHOUGH

BLIX

KRILL DURKRINDY

SFITZ MCHAN

GIRT BLADNORE

ITNEY MALBACRUDGE

SISTEEN HAMLOAF

FILBERTEEN IRKSOME

PARENTORA GUARDIOR

GAUDEAMUS IGITUR

What do you think? Do any of these work? Do you have a favorite? :)

Try the game--it's very fun.

Love them! My favorite's Justinius Trench. You're so creative!

I'm so blown away by book seven...I'm going to be posting about it as soon as I can gather my many thoughts...

Nice to "meet" you!

Thanks, Catherine! I loved book seven, too. Sorry it's over, but what a great reading experience.

Hi Julia

I just asked my son Rommert which names he liked. He said he liked Figaro Higglehaugh and Sisteen Hamloaf the most.

I bought the newest Potter in english for my kids, but it is difficult for them. So I guess I am going to read it for them too just like you.

Sisteen has been popular--my husband came up with that one. :)

It's a really great book, Caro! You and the children are going to love it.
